About the Tournament
The U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship is one of the most prestigious championships conducted by the United States Golf Association, bringing together elite amateur women from around the world to compete in a dynamic two-player team format.
In May 2027, Farmington Country Club will proudly host this national championship—marking the Club’s first USGA event in more than three decades. As Farmington celebrates its Centennial, this moment represents far more than competition. It is a reflection of the Club’s enduring commitment to excellence, its rich tradition in the game of golf, and its continued role in shaping the future of women’s golf. This championship will place Farmington on a national stage, welcoming top players, distinguished guests, and the broader golf community for a week that will define a pivotal chapter in the Club’s history.
The creation of the U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship was announced on Feb. 11, 2013, alongside the U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship. Together, they became the first additions to the USGA’s roster of national championships since the U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship in 1987.
Four-ball has become a widely popular format among State and Regional Golf Associations across the United States. In 2012, more than 150 championships, either strictly four-ball or featuring four-ball as part of the competition format, were conducted in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
The winning team will receive a trophy, and the champions will earn the following exemptions: a 10-year exemption from qualifying for the U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball; exemptions into the 2026 U.S. Women’s Amateur at The Honors Course in Ooltewah, Tennessee; the 2026 U.S. Girls’ Junior, if age eligible; the U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur, if age eligible; and the U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur, if age eligible.
The winning team’s names will also be inscribed on a plaque recognizing all 2026 USGA champions, which will reside in the Hall of Champions at the USGA Golf Museum in Liberty Corner, New Jersey.
Format
Four-Ball Stroke Play is a competition in which two competitors play as partners (sides), each playing their own ball. The lower score of the partners is the score for the hole. If one partner fails to complete play of the hole, there is no penalty. Four-Ball Match Play is a match in which two players play their better ball against the better ball of two other players.
The 2026 Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship is made up of two days of official practice rounds, two days to play 36 holes of stroke play to determine the 32 sides for match play, followed by three days to play 5 math play rounds. All matches are 18 holes. Those that qualified for the Championship must have a USGA Handicap Index not exceeding 14.4.
