In 1812, Joseph Miller, a sea captain and beer brewer, traveled with his young daughter, Mary Ann, to Virginia. Through a strange course of events, Thomas Jefferson discovered Joseph Miller's beer expertise, and in 1860, Mary Ann became the owner of Farmington. Frank Clark will share the connection between Farmington and brewing at Monticello. Mr. Clark has been the Master of Historic Foodways with Colonial Williamsburg for 35 years. His primary area of research is 18th-century cooking and beer brewing. This dinner is a special collaboration between Mr. Clark, Chef Michael Matarazzo, and Sommelier Andrew Woodland. This is also the Farmington Historical Society Foundation Annual Meeting.
