Weddings and Events
Farmington Country Club has existed for over eighty-five years, but its roots are far deeper. The land on which the Club rests boasts centuries of history. There is likely no other country club in America with a history quite like that of Farmington. The buildings are also unlike those of any other country club. To fully appreciate their architectural significance, one must understand what they were. The main plantation house was built in the late 1700’s. Thomas Jefferson drew plans for an octagonal addition to the house in 1803, now referred to as the Jefferson Room.
Farmington Country Club is a traditional, family-oriented private club with a proud history, rich traditions and commitment to the customs of southern hospitality and gracious living. Historic Farmington provides the most pleasant accommodations for your social entertaining. The private rooms of the Club offer a variety of amenities from a beautiful view of the Blue Ridge Mountains to a warm, cozy fireplace. Our kitchen and service staff promise to make your event a memorable occasion. The Club’s function rooms are available most days of the year for use by our members and their sponsored guests.
From an elegant ballroom wedding reception for 275 to a simple conference room meeting for 12, Farmington’s banquet facilities offer the perfect setting for every kind of event or function.

Private Event Spaces
Elegant and spacious, our formal ballroom will accommodate up to 260 for a plated lunch or dinner, without a dance floor; and up to 400 for a cocktail reception. The room is wired for sound and has a built in stage and lighting that may be dimmed to any level. The oak hardwood floors and crystal chandeliers add sophistication to any event. Peacock Alley and its line of lovely windows are included at no extra charge when renting the Ballroom.
Main Dining Room
The beautifully appointed Main Dining Room will seat up to 100 for a meeting or plated meal, and up to 150 for a cocktail reception. Speakers and room darkening ability make this a perfect space for meetings, and the large warming fireplace offers cozy warmth on a cold day and charm all year long. Numerous windows offer abundant light during the daytime hours.
Many have called this the most beautiful room in Charlottesville! Thomas Jefferson designed the room with an octagonal shape and large windows for one of the original owners of Farmington. The Jefferson Room is perfect for dinner parties, cocktail parties, meetings and even portraits. Up to 50 will fit comfortably in the room for lunch or dinner, and up to 75 for cocktail receptions. The balcony that overlooks the room has long been a favorite of brides for a memorable bouquet toss.
Warm and cozy with original knotty pine paneling and a fireplace, the Pine Room is a particular favorite for holiday luncheons and dinners, and is a great alternative to the usually impersonal conference rooms of most businesses. Up to 40 can dine comfortably here, or up to 60 can enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.
This room has a board style table and is the perfect location for your next business meeting, with seating up to 10 people.
North Lawn and Lower Patio
Whether you have a wedding ceremony for 12 or a cocktail party for 400, the North Lawn is the perfect outdoor venue. Spring, summer and fall, with or without a tent, the spacious lawn and beautiful Blue Ridge views cannot be beat.
The Lower Patio is equipped with tables and chairs and is nestled in a garden-like setting between the Ballroom and the Blue Ridge Room. This is a beautiful, shady outdoor space

“The purpose of this letter is to convey our sincere gratitude and appreciation for being instrumental in the success of our daughter Michelle’s wedding day. Our daughter was married on May 11th in Charlottesville, which was challenging since our home is in Michigan. Your staff is irreplaceable and made us feel they each had a vested interest in the success of our daughter’s special day. Such commitment to customer service is commendable and my husband and I want to thank you once again."
